Ranua Resort joins the Auringonkukka – Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Network
Ranua Resort has joined the international Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network. The Sunflower is a symbol that allows a person to voluntarily indicate to those around them that they have a hidden disability, condition or impairment and may need more time, understanding or assistance.
Joining the network is a natural part of Ranua Resort’s ongoing work to develop accessibility and an equal customer experience. At Ranua Resort, every guest is welcome just as they are. We want to meet people safely, kindly and respectfully in all service situations.
Hidden disabilities, conditions and impairments are not always visible, but they can have a significant impact on the kind of support a person may need in a travel environment, customer service situation or when moving around during the day. The Sunflower symbol helps increase understanding and lowers the threshold for asking for support when it is needed.
At Ranua Resort, the Sunflower can indicate to employees that a guest may need, for example, a calmer interaction, clearer instructions, more time when using services or kind support in a situation that feels overwhelming. Wearing the symbol is always voluntary, and guests are not required to explain their disability, condition or impairment.
“Ranua Resort is a place where nature, animals and people meet in a safe environment. It is important to us that everyone can visit us with peace of mind and as themselves. The Sunflower reminds us that not all needs are visible, but every encounter can be warm, respectful and humane,” says Johanna Koivunen, CEO, from Ranua Resort.
Ranua Resort offers a wide range of services. The area is extensive, and the customer experience includes many different situations, from arrival and ticket sales to accommodation, restaurant visits and visiting the Wildlife Park. Joining the Sunflower network supports the employees’ ability to recognise and consider different customer needs even better.
Accessibility is continuous development work at Ranua Resort. The Sunflower is one concrete step towards an environment where every guest can feel welcome, seen and safe.
If needed, Sunflower lanyards can be requested from the Holiday Villa reception or the Wildlife Park ticket office.
