What do I need to bring with me?
Please note that you need to present your valid driving licence to be able to participate to the snowmobile safari.
What’s included?
Thermal outfit, guidance in English, snowmobiling 2 persons / snowmobile, fuel, traffic insurance.
Self liability
can be reduced to 300 € by paying waiver supplement 15 € per safari driver (maximum personal liability 980 €).
Children on snowmobile safaris
Children are seated in a sled pulled by a snowmobile driven by the guide. Children over 140 cm in height are allowed to sit on the snowmobile behind an adult, when paying the adult price. Ranua Resort reserves the right to deny the participation of small children due to safety reasons (e.g. demanding weather or trail conditions).
Price for children entitles for a seat in a sled pulled by a snowmobile, driven by the guide.
Please note,
that the driver of the snowmobile has to be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license in Finland. Driving a motorized vehicle under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating drugs is prohibited by the laws of Finland.
Some of our activities are depending on the weather and snow conditions. If for some reason it is not possible to carry out the
activity or part of it due to weather or snow conditions,we can carry out the program in a modified form.
If the weather or snow condition does not allow the use of a sled or a snowmobile, the sled can be replaced with the summer equipment and the snowmobile can be replaced with a car. Weather and snow conditions in Finland varies every year and we cannot guarantee a permanent snow cover during November.

Ride through the wilderness to enjoy ice fishing on a frozen lake
This tour heads North on a snowmobile trail that takes you through snowy forests, where you can admire the surrounding wilderness of Lapland. You’ll arrive to a small wilderness lake and the guide helps you to try the ice-fishing. Try traditional ice fishing and fry your catch over a campfire! Ice fishing is also very popular among the locals.

Scan the Arctic night sky on a snowmobile looking for the Aurora Borealis
Experience the magic of the Arctic night by riding through a snow-covered forest and on a frozen lake. With a little luck, there is a bright sky, lit by the moon and the stars. Perhaps the Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights – will appear to show you the way.
Please note, that the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights, are natural phenomena caused by solar wind and even though it is possible to predict the appearance, it cannot be guaranteed. Also, the weather conditions have great impact on the visibility – if there are clouds or it is snowing, it is not possible to see the Northern lights.
Enjoy hot beverages and traditional, Lappish flatbread by a campfire and learn more about the Northern Lights and the beauty of Lapland.

Get familiar with the Finn horses & farm animals
Visit the family farm to meet the typical Lappish farm animals, such as Finn horses, Lapland cow, Lapphund, sheep and chicken. There are also bunnies and cats on the farm. At the farm, you will aso experience the 600 meters sledge ride.

Programme
DAY 1
The experience begins from our safari house, where you’ll meet your guide. You will get all the winter gear needed for the trip and the guide will give the details as well as the safety briefing.
After this the adventure begins and we drive across the wilderness. On the way we will see lakes, swamps and hills and untouched nature. With some luck we might see a glimpse of wild animals. Light lunch is offered during the day.
We reach Iso-Syöte in the afternoon. You have some time to accommodate to the hotel, and there is an opportunity to try Finnish sauna and snow bath before the delicious dinner.
DAY 2
After the breakfast we drive another full day, all the way back to the Ranua Resort and enjoy a light lunch by the campfire on the way.
Price includes:
a night at Kide Hotel, sauna, breakfast, lunch and dinner, winter gear (boots, overall, gloves, thermal socks, balaclava, helmet), snowmobile driving 1 person/snowmobile, guiding in English, fuel, insurance, vat.
The driver of the snowmobile must be at least 18 years of age with a driver’s license valid in Finland.
