Winter at Ranua Resort invites groups to experience the Arctic in its purest form. Snow covered forests, quiet trails, and traditional ways of moving through nature create a unique setting for shared winter experiences.

Winter activities for groups include guided programmes such as snowmobile safaris, husky and reindeer experiences, and moments around a campfire in the heart of nature.  All activities are organised safely and responsibly, and they can be adapted to suit your group’s wishes, schedule, and experience level.

A guided evening visit after park closing hours

Discover the Wildlife Park after closing hours and experience Arctic animals in the unique light of the midnight sun. This guided evening walk offers a calm and atmospheric way to explore the park while learning more about Arctic wildlife and their natural behaviour.

Availability:                        15 May to 31 July 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 21:00 to 23:00

An easy and refreshing walk in the forests of Lapland

This guided nature walk invites your group to enjoy the calming atmosphere of the surrounding forest at an easy and relaxed pace. The walk focuses on being present in nature, breathing fresh air, and experiencing the natural environment without rush.

The route and pace can be adapted to suit your group, making the walk suitable for different ages and activity levels. Walking poles are available upon request, and the experience works well as a gentle outdoor moment alongside other group activities.

Traditional Lapland handicrafts guided by a local artisan

This hands on workshop invites your group to experience traditional Lapland handicrafts under the guidance of local artisan Paula Erkkilä. Using natural materials and traditional techniques, you will create a personal souvenir to take home as a memory of your visit.

You can choose one of the following workshop options in advance:

  • decorating a traditional wooden kuksa cup using a burning technique
  • creating a pouch from genuine reindeer leather
  • making a round reindeer leather pouch or small bag using traditional sewing methods and natural decorative elements.

Workshops take place in a traditional kota located in the Wildlife Park and offer a calm, creative, and authentic group experience.

A grounding wellbeing experience for groups

Fire Yoga is a calming and grounding yoga experience held in a traditional Lapland kota, surrounded by the gentle warmth and glow of the fire. The session focuses on slow movements, mindful breathing, and relaxation, creating space to pause and reconnect with yourself.

The practice is suitable for all levels and includes both seated and standing poses. The intimate setting and the rhythm of the fire support presence, balance, and deep relaxation, making this a meaningful wellbeing experience for groups.

Where history and nature meet in quiet reflection Path of Battles

A guided historical walk exploring the Lapland War

The Path of Battles is a guided walking route that explores the history of the Lapland War in the Ylimaa area near Ranua. Along this easy to walk trail, you will learn about the events of October 1944, when heavy fighting took place between Finnish and German forces during the retreat of German troops.

Walking through the peaceful forest landscape, the route offers a thoughtful contrast between nature and history. Stories, images, and maps help bring the past to life, creating a meaningful experience that combines movement, learning, and reflection.
