Wild Arctic Restaurant closed temporarily – lunch served at Arctic Igloos
Our Wild Arctic Restaurant at the Wildlife Park entrance is closed from September 1 to November 16, 2025, due to expansion renovations. During the renovation, we serve our hungry customers at the Arctic Igloos Restaurant on the shore of Lake Ranua.
Lunch is served daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arctic Igloo Restaurant. The lunch buffet offers delicious home-style cooking and a generous salad bar. À la carte dishes can be ordered daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Our Arctic Igloos Restaurant is located in the reception building of the Ranuanjärvi campsite and Glass Igloos at Leirintäalueenkatu 5, a few kilometers from the Wildlife Park.

Wild Arctic restaurant will reopen on Monday, November 17, when lunch service will return to the renovated restaurant.

Endangered Bukhara urial arrive in Ranua
In the wild, Bukhara urials inhabit mountainous regions of Central Asia. The Bukhara urial is divided into several subspecies, and the subspecies kept at Korkeasaari Zoo and now also at our park has the northeasternmost distribution and is particularly well adapted to mountainous conditions. It is classified as vulnerable and is considered the most endangered wild sheep. DNA research to support Arctic fox conservation
As part of the collaboration, we collected faecal samples, bone fragments and food remains – such as a rat tail – from our arctic foxes and red fox. The samples were carefully packed in minigrip bags and delivered to the researchers, who also collected soil samples from areas where the animals had frequently moved.
