Ranua Resort reports strong results and significant investments in 2025

Ranua Resort (Ranuan Seudun Matkailu Oy) continued its positive development in 2025, achieving solid financial results while completing significant investments that enhance customer experience and regional economic impact. The year marked a milestone for the company, combining growth, responsibility and long-term development.

In the financial year 2025, Ranua Resort’s revenue amounted to EUR 7.3 million, representing a 6.5% increase year-on-year. The total number of visitors reached 134,651, and the company posted a profit of EUR 848,140. The Board of Directors proposes a dividend of EUR 150,000 to be paid to the Municipality of Ranua.

“The year 2025 was highly significant for Ranua Resort and defined by visible renewals and major investments. The renovations of the polar bear enclosure and our restaurant are key improvements from a customer experience perspective, but their impact goes far beyond that,” says Johanna Koivunen, CEO of Ranua Resort.

“These investments have significantly increased our economic footprint in the region. We employ local people and work extensively with local companies as part of our daily operations.”

During 2025, the renovation of the polar bear enclosure was completed, and several maintenance and improvement projects were carried out across the wildlife park. In addition, the Wild Arctic Restaurant was fully renovated and expanded by approximately 80 seats, improving accessibility and overall functionality. The park’s attractiveness was further strengthened by new animal arrivals and new species.

Ranua Resort plays an important role in the local economy. In 2025, the company purchased services from local Ranua-based businesses worth nearly EUR 1.6 million, a significant increase compared to the previous year.

“Local cooperation is a concrete part of our sustainability work. We actively employ local professionals and utilise local expertise across seasons. This is how we build sustainable tourism together with the region,” Koivunen states.

Strong focus on sustainability and employee experience

Sustainability and employee experience remained key focus areas throughout the year. Ranua Resort renewed its EcoCompass and Sustainable Travel Finland certifications and was once again awarded the Great Place to Work certification in November 2025, with improved results compared to previous years. Despite seasonal fluctuations, the company succeeded in maintaining and further developing a positive employee experience.

“A strong employee experience is the foundation of a strong customer experience. We are proud that our long-term work in leadership and wellbeing is clearly reflected in employee feedback,” Koivunen adds.

Outlook for the future remains positive. International tourism will continue to be a key focus area, while Ranua Resort is investing strongly in increasing year-round travel, both internationally and domestically.

“We are well positioned in the domestic market, and international demand remains strong. Our next strategic step is to further strengthen year-round tourism and reduce seasonal dependency in a sustainable way,” Koivunen concludes.
